Are you ready to take the first step?

Meet Angela Cusimano, PhD

Welcome to Nourished Mind Psychology! I am so glad that you are here. I am a licensed psychologist who currently offers in-person and virtual appointments for your convenience. I am a South Florida native and continue to call the Sunshine State home. I have been studying psychology since 1998, working in the mental health field since 2000, and finally became a psychologist in 2013.

I am a Veteran who served in the Air Force as a psychologist and spent several years working for the VA. I currently enjoy working with adolescents, teens, and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma. While my work does not currently involve seeing couples and families, I was trained to view problems from a "systems perspective" meaning that each individual interacts with various systems (e.g., parents, siblings, partners, peers) that generally lead to the development of viewpoints and habits that can contribute to mental health symptoms.

I'm also interested in the organic component of a person's concerns which is why I am working towards completing education and licensure in psychopharmacology. This training helps to educate my clients on the behavioral and biological treatments that can be helpful for them. While not all states currently allow psychologists to prescribe medication, many of our states are currently advocating for this movement due to the severe shortage of mental health prescribers in our country.

Aside from being a psychologist, I am an aunt to two adorable nieces, a rescue dog mom, and enjoy yoga, paddle boarding, and traveling whenever the opportunity arises.

I look forward to helping you on your journey to a nourished and healthy mind.

Inspirational Quotes

“Perfectionism is a self destructive and addictive belief system that fuels this primary thought: If I look perfect, and do everything perfectly, I can avoid or minimise the painful feelings of shame, judgment, and blame.”

Brene Brown

“Somehow we’ve come to equate success with not needing anyone. Many of us are willing to extend a helping hand, but we’re very reluctant to reach out for help when we need it ourselves. It’s as if we’ve divided the world into “those who offer help” and “those who need help.” The truth is that we are both.”

Brene Brown

“Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome.”

Brene Brown
